The first technical committee of the Basel Regional Center was held

The first Basel and Stockholm Regional Technical Committee in Iran examined the use of an inventory system for the management of hazardous waste in member and non-member countries.

Basel and Stockholm Regional Conventions Center in Iran, with the aim of training and technology transfer in order to properly manage the waste types included by the conventions, has undertaken comprehensive planning for its future activities.

According to the approvals of the meeting of the Regional Steering Committee in December of this year, the first technical committee with the presence of representatives of member and non-member countries to exchange information and explore the possibility of regional cooperation in coordination with the regional center and the Secretariat of Basel, Stockholm and Rotterdam conventions. The First technical committee was held on March 4 of 2021. In this regard, the Comprehensive Inventory System as one of the proposed projects to the subordinate countries to improve and upgrade the proper management of the final disposal of hazardous waste and other waste as one of the main topics was discussed.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided that in case of a written request of those countries and the necessary infrastructure is available, technical meetings and specialized training courses related to the mentioned system will be coordinated by the Deputy Minister of Environment, the Secretariat of Conventions and the regional center for member and non-member countries.
