Opportunities for bilateral cooperation between Finland and BCRC/SCRC Iran

H.E. Kari Kahiluoto, the Ambassador of Republic of Finland accompanied by his colleagues Emmi Kulta and Mostafa Zaafari visited Basel and Stockholm Conventions Regional Center-IRAN (BCRC/SCRC Iran). The meeting was also attended by the representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs & Convention Center-Department of Environment.

After a brief presentation on Regional Center and its national and international activities by Mehdi Sameni, Director of BCRC/SCRC Iran, various dimensions of bilateral cooperation in the field of environment, including waste management, circular economy, environmental policies and sharing good practices have been discussed. Despite expressing concern on the existing financial sanctions against Iran, H.E. Kari Kahiluoto emphasized on commercial-based activities and raised many common areas for environmental collaboration. Both sides showed their interest for waste management collaboration, sharing experiences and exchanging the required information and data if available.
