Brief description of the project

Anaerobic digestion is a process of decomposition of biomass resources by bacteria in the absence of air by which Methane and other by-products with medium calorific value (biogas) will produce. In previous years the Municipality of Esfahan has done extensive studies considering the importance of compost and electricity production from the organic part of municipal waste to establish an anaerobic digestion plant. Now utilizes the knowledge of Iranian companies which has been tasked with localizing the foreign company knowledge and by a collaboration of experts and researchers of Iran Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute (Agricultural Jihad) the construction of anaerobic digestion pilot device has been performed and we will now be in the early stages of exploiting. The following are the main advantages and goals of this device:

– Determining the amount of biogas produced by municipal waste, which is effective in the economics of the main project (the range of 80 to 220 m3 biogas per each ton of organic waste)

– Determination of auxiliary feeds that are very effective to produce biogas with high efficiency.

– Acquiring the knowledge of building a unit of 20 tons per day which could prevent the production of limited unpleasant odors on the site of the compost plant and served high-quality compost and electricity as the first module of the industrial unit in Isfahan.

– Acquisition of the knowledge of exploiting anaerobic digestion industrial unit as a complex and specialized biological process.
